Seattle LAST SUMMER

I am so behind on blogging. Sheesh.

Last summer I went to visit Kimi and Landon and baby Livy in Seattle. I love them all so much I can hardly stand it. They are some of my dearest and closest friends. I permanently miss Kimi - ever since we stopped being roommates. We have a really special bond - I've been known to kiss her head in the middle of the night and rub her leg mid-sleep. What the?! Kimi used to come talk to me while I was showering so I could approve her outfits for the day and I used to make sure she made it into her bed every night, since she was know to fall asleep on the floor or balanced across the gap BETWEEN TWO BEDS. (I've never seen a more impressive sleeper.) Landon and especially Kimi spent hours on the phone with me this year counseling me as I agonized over life decisions and gave me the honored title of "aunt" to little Livy. My whole mission I couldn't wait to get home and visit them in Seattle, so I finally flew out at the end of the summer. They were the best hosts - tried to pay for all my meals, took me to the most delicious restaurants, bought me a birthday cupcake and ice cream on the way home from the airport, let me sleep in, took me allllll over the city and San Juan Islands, and Kimi let me wear her chambray shirt like 3 days in a row. We stayed up late every night talking and cracking up and watching Arrested Development. They are soulmates, for sure.

Every time I go to a new city, I fall in love, but I'm for real with Seattle. I knew I would love Seattle before I went, and sure enough, it is one of my favorite cities on this warm, lonely planet. If me and the Joneses can't be neighbors, I at least hope they live there forever.

Doughnuts from Pike's Place.

Snoqualmie Falls.

OMG MAGGIE MOON'S ICE CREAM. You know how salted caramel is all the rage? Theirs is the number one best ever. We went there like 3 times in the week I was there. Kimi tried to bring me some over Christmas, but realized it wouldn't last in a cooler during the 14 hour drive. But, still, true love.

These faces. ^^

Dreamy San Juan Islands. We ate fish and chips, and I foolishly bought several books that I had to carry back in my carry-on.

Kimi and Landon are so proud of how much of a city girl Liv is. She loves riding the bus walking around the city.

Ahhhhh. I loved carrying her around. She was constantly petting my hair.
Cousin Addison happened to be in Seattle too. Actually, he just happens to be in a lot of really cool and interesting cities quite often. DON'T WORRY, I WON'T TELL YOUR PARENTS. winky face.

Niels!

Us looking like adorable dorkwads at Niels' high school graduation like 3 years ago.

Niels is NOT my favorite brother, but he is sort of my best friend brother. I mean, they’re all definitely best friend canidates, but Kai recently cussed me out for parking in his parking spot, Finn likes Kendal more, and Lars would rather hang out with Adam. Plus, Niels is like my sister-brother. He cares about style and we totally get each other. He gets home from his mission SO SOON, and I just can’t wait.

Here are some things I adore about Niels:

He’s (one of) the funniest people I know. I already have several blog posts dedicated to this.
Most of the good music I listen to is because of him. (The Faj Mahal also gets some credit.)
He loves me a lot and wrote me the sweetest letters on my mission.
One time he wrote a beautiful poem, just for my mom. He doesn’t need recognition and credit from lots of people.
His writing is beautiful.
He loves everyone and makes everyone feel like a million bucks when they are with him. He’s observant and cares about all the little details in the lives of those he loves.
HE IS WAY COOLER THAN ME.
He coughs loud in my dad’s ear when there is a bad word in a song that is playing.
He follows his heart.
He loves his mission.
He gets really excited for me when cool guys ask me out.
He tells me what pants make my butt look big.
When I’m ready for bed, he cuddles up in my bed before I get in and TAKES LIKE AN HOUR TO LEAVE.
He shows me music videos when I’m ready to go to bed.
He loves my friends as much as I do and is fiercely loyal to those he loves.
He is passionate and dramatic.
He talks everything out with me.
He thinks I’m awesome and stylish and lovely even when I’m worried and acting psycho and wearing pants that make my butt look big.
He thinks seriously and deeply.
He loves God.
He respects our mom. He just understands her heart and sees right to her core.
Also, he thinks he is super hot. If he was a tool, he’d be the worst. But since he’s so awesome and funny, he can somehow get away with it. He’ll walk around the house wearing new pants and say things like, “I’m sorry, but these pants look so good on me!” And when seeing a picture of him and I in my dad’s office, he would say, “Who’s that handsome devil??”
He FREAKS OUT when someone ate the rest of the cupcakes, or beans, or anything he was having a craving for: "What the HECK! Who ate all the CUPCAKES?!?" (This is the #1 impersonation our family does of him since he’s been gone.)
We hipster dance and always think it’s hilarious.
He loves making jokes LIKE THIS: (I found several pictures like this in his file on my computer
